Unveiling of New Czech Republic Marker

Today is a momentous occasion for the Philippines and the Czech Republic as the representatives of both nations unveiled the New Czech Republic marker at the Capas National Shrine. This marker is a homage to the 14 Czechoslovakian heroes who endured unimaginable hardships and fought valiantly alongside Filipino and American soldiers during the grueling World War II Death March from Bataan to Capas. They remind us that the pursuit of freedom and justice is a pursuit worth any sacrifice.
The event was graced by the distinguished presence of Governor Susan Yap, Mayor Roseller “Boots” Rodriguez, Mr. Maros Martin Gouth – Head of Economic, Trade and Defense Section of the Embassy of the Czech Republic, Department of National Defense Asec. Antonio L. Bautista, Col. Agerico G. Amagna III – Chief, Veterans Memorial and Historical Division of the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, and Commissioner Lino Dizon of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.
The marker is not just a physical representation; it is a testament to the shared history, the common ideals, and the enduring friendship between the Czech Republic and the Philippines. It serves as a testament to the strong bonds that transcend time and borders.
