CAPAS BAHAY PAGBABAGO: CHANGING LIVES

CHANGE IS INDEED INEVITABLE!

So it is for the 222 illegal-drug victims in Capas whose lives have completely changed after graduating from the Capas Bahay Pagbabago—Drug Reformatory Center (CBP-DRC) last December 9, 2016.

“Para sa iba ang 60 days na pagpasok sa Bahay Pagbabago ay parang pagkakakulong, sabi nila parang nakaconfine, nakakabagot, mahirap. Mahirap talaga. Sa umpisa. Pero pagkaraan ng ilang araw, nung nakikita na namin na nagsisidatingan na sina Mayor, mga malalaking taong concerned sa amin, yung sa TESDA, mga pamilya namin… Naisip ko ibang-iba pala,” says one graduate reformist.

The then reformists, now transformed individuals, underwent 2 months of intensive physical, mental, social, moral and spiritual conditioning for their holistic personal development. Through FREE technical-vocational trainings from TESDA, they now have second chances as free men, ready for employment and once again accepted by the society, well-supported and loved by their families.

“Capas is indeed lucky to have Capas Bahay Pagbabago as it differs from other reformatory centers. I am proud to say that thanks to the Capas LGU headed by Mayor Catacutan and PSupt. Ariel Red, we have indeed the largest and the best Reformatory Center in Central Luzon, probably one of the most meticulously built in the country,” says CBP-DRC Administrator Edgar M. Guevarra.

“We have also been very blessed to lead these reformists in the journey to transformation,” he adds. These outlook ignite a joyful and relaxed ambience within the reformatory center and as one news reporter from CNN Philippines commented, “Dito lang sa Capas makikita na masasaya ang mga repormista.”

And as the batch one has graduated, gratitude and tears poured during the emotional occasion, that even the their families, other high ranking officials and even the Mayor himself couldn’t hold their tears as the reformists bid farewell, not from them but to their shady past.

Truly, “change is hard in the beginning, messy in the middle, and gorgeous in the end!”
